WARREN MACKENZIE BIOGRAPHY THE EARLY YEARS
Born: February 16th, 1924;
Raised: 1930 Philadelphia, Pa., 1933 wilmette, Il.;
1941 enrolled in Art Institute of Chicago studying painting;
1943 Drafted into the service.
THE WAR YEARS
Served as a cartographer;
1946 Resumes work at Art Institute of Chicago. However, the painting
program was full Warren enrolled in a ceramics program to avoid a wait;
1947 Marries Alixandra Kolensky.
THE YEARS ABROAD
1949 Warren and Alix visit St. Ives. Bernard invites them in as
apprentices;
1950 Warren and Alix spend two and a half years with Bernard at St. Ives.
STILLWATER
1953 Warren joins the faculty at the University of Minnesota.
1984 he was named a Regent's Professor. Marries Nancy Spitzer, a
designer of prints and dyed silk;
In 2007 Warren Mackenzie closed his studio
